On Friday December 29th I woke up to Philip flipping the suitcase onto the bed at 5:00 am telling me to get up and get showered....we were leaving at 6:00! He didn't tell me where we were going....just to pack for a couple of days and bring warm clothes. After showering, packing, sneeking out of the house before the girls woke up (Sarah watched the girls for us Friday and Friday night-then "Auntie Ann" watched them Saturday and Saturday night)and stopping for Starbucks....we were on our way to Chicago at 6:00 am! What a wonderful surprise!!! Philip knows that I love walking around downtown Chicago! We stopped for breakfast in Geneseo IL at a pretty little Victorian place and arrived at the beautiful Hilton Chicago at about noon. The hotel was amazing! If you ever get a chance to stay there....DO! It is the largest hotel in the world, I guess, and just about every president has stayed there. We decided to walk to Navy Pier Friday afternoon....the weather was just perfect! 51 degrees and sunny! We had so much fun talking, admiring the Chicago sights, and walking. We walked for 4 hours!!!! Boy was I tired by the time we got back to the hotel. We decided to eat at one of the restaurants inside the hotel because I was just too tired to walk anywhere else! On Saturday we went to the Shedd Aquarium....that was really fun too! I loved see the Dragon, lizards, penguins, dolphins and all of the rest of God's great creations in the water! We ended our fun trip by stopping by Aunt Diane and Uncle Dean's house outside of Chicago for dinner. We had such a great time visiting with them and getting to see Brian and Eve and their two beautiful children too! We got back home by 12:30 am Sunday....very anxious to see our kids!!
